That’s a Wrap – Fleetwood Makos at the Swim England North West Regionals 2025!
The Swim England North West Summer Championships 2025 have come to a close for our Mako's, and what a proud moment it’s been for us at Fleetwood Makos.
Over three weekends, four of our athletes took to the regional stage — and each one gave it their all. From PBs and finals to medals and milestones, every swim reflected the commitment, courage, and team spirit we value so much at Makos.
- Alfie (aged 10) made his regional debut in a tough 11/12 age group and held his own brilliantly — finishing 21st in the North West in the 100m Breaststroke. A huge achievement and a glimpse of what’s to come!
- Jack had a fantastic championships across both weekends. In the 100m Backstroke he smashed a 2-second PB, jumping up the rankings in the region, and followed it up with a brilliant 100m Butterfly — showing serious speed, focus, and Mako determination.
- Jasper had a stacked schedule and rose to the challenge — hitting PBs in all three events, reaching the finals each time, and bringing home two silver medals. An outstanding performance and a proud moment for the club!
- Amelia rounded off the championships with a composed and confident swim in the 100m Breaststroke. She just missed a PB, but swam with excellent technique and strength — a brilliant finish to an exciting run of racing.
A special thank you to our Head Coach Les, who supported our athletes poolside throughout all three weekends. Your guidance and encouragement helped them perform at their very best — we’re so grateful.
We also extend a huge thank you to Swim England North West for organising such a well-run, inspiring championship series, and to all the officials, volunteers, and event staff who made it possible. Your time, dedication, and passion for the sport do not go unnoticed.
And finally, well done to every club and athlete who took part. The standard of swimming across the region was incredible — and it was an honour to compete alongside you.
We leave the champs full of pride and motivation. Onwards and upwards, Makos!
