OUR HISTORY
Fleetwood and District A.S.C was formed in 1974 to provide organised water time for local youngsters to learn and improve their swimming skills with a view to swimming competitively. In addition, the facilities were made available for other sections in the club to flourish so that all water-based activities could be made available to the local community. These include masters swimming, lifesaving, disabled swimming and water polo.
Competitively, the club quickly developed and by 1979 the first National Age Group Championship successes were achieved. Thereafter, the honours continued with an Olympic swimmer being chosen from the club, a Commonwealth gold medallist and successes at National Youth Squad level.
Today, we remain just as ambitious and community-focused. The club continues to compete at the highest levels nationally and locally in both team and individual competitions, as well as in biathlon and triathlon events. Alongside this, we are proud to provide opportunities for swimmers of all ages and abilities to enjoy the water, develop new skills, and be part of something bigger.
Our club is run entirely by volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to coaching, organising, fundraising, and supporting our swimmers. Thanks to their hard work, and the support of our members and families, we are now a registered charity (No:1214748) a reflection of the vital role we play in the local community. This milestone not only celebrates our proud history but also strengthens our commitment to making swimming accessible, inspiring, and rewarding for everyone.
