Dear All

Please find below the competition information document which I published at the start of this 2018-2019 season.

This may be new to some and also may now make more sense for those gaining more experience of competition swimming.

Between now and the summer break there are lots of opportunities to take part in competitive swimming events. It is important that swimmers do take part in competitions but also that they choose the correct level of events, so please consider the following info for May, June and July:-

  • The FST Summer Sprints will this year take place in the middle of May (TBC).

  • This is an event suitable for ALL levels of developing swimmers at the Club.

  • There will be 25m and 50m races in all strokes.

  • EVERYONE should be taking part in this Club event run at Fleetwood.

  • Garstang Gators Medals Gala in June is now open for entries and details and forms are on the noticeboard at Fleetwood.

  • This is an Level 3 Open meet but only a small step up the ladder from the Summer Sprints.

  • This is the perfect event for a first Open meet away from the Club. It has 4 x 50m and a 100 IM and is held at Blackpool.

  • It is a licenced meet and so the results will go to the ASA and times achieved can be used at higher level events.

  • In July the North Lancs level 3 Development Gala will take place.

  • This event is the next small step up the ladder and will feature 50m, 100m and 200m events.

  • Many Fleetwood swimmers should be aiming to take part in this events. (some may be too fast to take part)

  • As it takes place at the end of the season it is a great indicator of much swimmers have progressed over a year.

  • It also provides a great opportunity to register qualifying times for the North Lancs Championships in Sept/Oct 2019.

In addition to these 3 events, there are details of a gala run by Preston currently on the noticeboard.

As explained in the attached info, this gala is aimed at a small handful of swimmers who need to target a specific swims and maybe will not be able to take part in the above galas, for instance, they may be too fast for Garstang or the North Lancs L3 gala.

In addition this Preston Gala may not have full coaching support on the poolside. We will have to see who is available at each session.

I know there is a great deal of info to take on but I hope it all makes some sense.

If not, please grab Elliott and I for a chat at the pool.
