I hope you have all finally recovered from a hectic weekend across the boarder.
The Beast from the East met the Best from the West.
I hope those who travelled over on Saturday got a good night's sleep. I was fine in my own bed until my alarm went off at 5am. Think it had warmed up to -2 degrees by then.
The snowball fight on the way to pool was entertaining though. Kids eh.
Madness in March !
Really well done to all swimmers who took part. There isn't many sports where competitors of any level can take part in an event at the premier sporting arena in the country.
How many young footballers can play at Wembley or Tennis players at centre court at Wimbledon.
Ponds Forge is where Great Britain swim internationals, the National Championships are held there and also the Inter-County finals, so great experience for our young swimmers from Fleetwood.
The behaviour and enthusiasm of the Fleetwood swimmers was also fantastic. It was a pleasure to watch them all swim so well.
I did moan a little to them about some having too much fun doing their 'swim-down' in the diving pit. I know from experience that conserving your energy over a long day is important in doing well in the later races in the afternoon.
Also massive thanks to Hannah, Gary, Chris and Cheri for their help on the poolside and to the great support from the Fleetwood parents.
Please find attached the Fleetwood results from the weekend in a couple of formats.
Times should all now be uploaded to your swimmers ASA BIOGS page as well.
I have done a little analysis on the pacing of 100m swims for parents to have a look at and chat with their swimmers.
Learning how to pace a 100m, 200m or 400m is really important but does come with experience.
The split times only tell part of the story. For many of the swims marked with a RED first 50m, I could see swimmers visibly accelerate at some point down the second 50m. To achieve the fastest overall time, more speed, belief and commitment is required down the first 50m. But gaining experience is a massive part of this learning process.
Great day all round. Thought a KFC would finish it off nicely..... WHAT NO CHICKEN. Madness.
